Tin(II) chloride that is insensitive to water and air mediated coupling reaction between alkynes and aldehydes as a Lewis acid in nitromethane to produce (E)-α,β-unsaturated ketones via the skeletal transformation that one alkyne-carbon changed into oxo-carbon accompanied with the cleavage of C=O bond in starting aldehydes. This coupling reaction was promoted by a catalytic amount of primary or secondary alkanols. The cleavage of C-O single bond generated by the nucleophilic addition might be induced by the strong oxophilicity of tin.. |
Eur. J. Org. Chem.2013, 8033-8038. |
