BIOSKETCH

My major research interests are in the area of plant biochemistry and molecular biology. Particularly, I focus on the research of the seismonastic movement of Mimosa plant. I received my Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from Chiba University in 1996, supervised by the late Dr. Koscak Maruyama. I started my academic work as a research associate at Sophia University in 1996. This was followed by post-doctoral work at the Medical School of Cornell University in U.S. from 1999 to 2001. I returned to Sophia University in 2001 and was promoted to an assistant professor in 2006. I have published more than 30 articles covering a bending mechanism of the plant, biochemical properties of aquaporins and a function of endthelin in cardiac development in Nature, FEBS lett, and Development, etc.
