- Yumiko Suzuki was born in Shizuoka. She is a dedicated Baptist Christian,
and believes Christianity and science are compatible. She has a license
to practical pharmacy. She received her undergraduate and graduate training
at University of Shizuoka; where she started research in area of organic
synthesis, especially, pioneering study on N-heterocyclic carbene-catalysis, and did her Ph.D. research with Professor
Takeo Higashino and Professor Akira Miyashita. The Ph.D. thesis title is
“Studies on the Reactions Related to Benzoin Condensation and Activities
of Their Catalysts.”
